Sharp Dialogue

I was watching an old video where John Sharp, the British actor appeared. I always think of him as the outstandingly creepy Number Two in the Prisoner episode “Change of Mind”. Then I wondered if the actor’s name had anything to do with a memorable line of dialogue in that episode: “The butcher with the sharpest knife has the kindest heart.”

When I scrolled through the episode to check the line, I noticed that, in the scene where the Prisoner speaks it (claiming it’s a saying of Number 2), he points at Number 2 using the cuckold’s horns, indicating slyly that he’s sticking it to Number 2. Sharp’s eyes are on McGoohan’s fingers as he makes the gesture, and the dismay on Sharp’s face suggests that the character is aware of the symbol and its meaning.

A lot of crazy details packed into these episodes by the crazy people who made them.

See the blog post for a description.
The line actually comes a little later in the scene, but I wanted to screencap McGoohan’s hand gesture.
